About Us
Nnete Foundation is a Non-Profit Organisation situated in Kgubutswana township in Clarens. The town is about a three hour drive from Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Durban and is 6,000 feet up with stunning views of the Maloti Mountains.
Dihlabeng Church, situated in Clarens, has always sought to love the community through many different projects. Nnete Foundation was born out of that desire with a particular focus on using education as a tool for empowerment. Our dream is that every person in Clarens has the oppertunity to grow in who they are, and have oppertunities to better their skills.
South African society is fragmented in such a way that the majority in the township do not have access to the quality of education that will ensure the poverty cycle is broken. Hence, education and training are the main tools we employ to disrupt the poverty cycle and create opportunities for a better future.
Nnete Ed Centre
The Nnete Ed Centre is where we started. It was piloted in the final school term of 2015 and formally launched in January 2016. Our aim is to provide support and opportunities to high school learners to dream and fulfil their potential.
A total of 20 students are part of the Ed Centre. Rakgalakane Mofokeng is leading the project together with volunteers who add to this team and make this an exciting place to be.
Teacher Training Centre
This is an initiative to address education at its most basic level. We are training Early Childhood Development Teachers who will become pre-school and Grade RR teachers. These are teachers who work to prepare children for school readiness, arguably the most important part of a childs development cycle.
